‘Art + Science + Food + Film:’ celebration of kelp begins this weekend

A month-long celebration of kelp, North Coast KelpFest, is set for May 18 through June 16 in Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Activities and events highlighting this essential ecosystem will include art exhibits, plus workshops on fabric dying, ceramics and cyanotype printing from sea-weeds; a low-tide walk with seaweed foragers and marine scientists; a kelp recovery project demonstration; tastings of wild and ranched uni (sea urchin); a documen-tary screening followed by a panel discussion with researchers and artists; and many more.
